Run, Push, Jump, Throw athletics sessions are fun and inclusive athletics sessions for children aged 5-12 of all abilities. The focus is on developing fundamental movement skills. The sessions allow children to learn and develop essential skills such as agility, balance, and coordination while they are introduced to all aspects of athletics in a fun and engaging way. The children participate in sprinting, endurance running, jumping, and throwing and get to use equipment such as javelins and discus, high jump facilities, the sand pit, and shot putts. It is well known that running, jumping, and throwing underpin every sport and are essential for development.
Grangemouth Community Sports Trust provides a safe and friendly environment where children learn, develop, make new friends, and have lots of fun! Sessions will be led by Laura, one of our UK Athletics-qualified coaches, who brings energy, expertise, and a passion for helping young people enjoy sport and physical activity. Whether a child is trying athletics for the first time or already loves to move, this group will offer a welcoming space to learn and grow.
There is a session for primary 1-3 aged children. This session will be working on key movement skills like balance, agility and coordination incorporated into athletics events and games. There will also be an introduction to lots of the athletics events.
There is also a session for primary 4-7 ages. This session will be similar to primary 1-3 but involve more development of techniques in the various athletics events. During this stage the sessions allow for children who are committed and engaged at sessions to develop their athletics skills further by joining Falkirk Victoria Harriers.
The sessions take place weekly as blocks during school term time. There are sessions at Grangemouth Stadium on a Monday and Thursday. As the programme develops, we hope to offer more session availability, and holiday camps. The blocks are released before the start date and are advertised on social media such as Instagram and Facebook.
